FLC (Family Learning Center)
The Family Learning Center is a family resource center based out of John S. Martinez School in New Haven, Connecticut. This family-focused child center provides educational, recreational and cultural enrichment services, promoting academic success, family empowerment, and school and community engagement. Specifically, the Family Learning Center (FLC) operates an after-school and summer program for forty K-8th grade students who attend Martinez School. The summer program is a full day program and is licensed by the Connecticut State Department of Health.
Easter Seals Goodwill Industries purposely works with a smaller pool of students to guarantee that each child gets the individual attention and support he or she needs.
The Program stresses positive interaction with all students and their family members. Ensuring that each child is safe, having fun and growing academically and socially are top priorities.
We focus on helping children build a strong sense of self while building positive relationships with staff and volunteers who are caring mentors and role models to many.
Staff includes professionals who are bilingual in English and Spanish and possess significant expertise in after-school care, youth development, social services and education.
