SPICE (Senior People Involved in Community Enrichment)

Originating in 1990, SPICE provided part-time retirement options for the aging Consumers in Easter Seals Goodwill Industries’ vocational programs. By 1996, SPICE became a full-time, community-based retirement program with active members selecting from an array of activity options. Most importantly, individuals are assisted in making connections with senior centers and activities within the community.

Today, SPICE maintains its commitment to individuals with developmental disabilities who have decided to transition from work to retirement. Through participation in local senior centers, volunteer activities and an active calendar of events, members are able to build new and lasting relationships and are afforded opportunities for personal growth and fulfillment.

Activities SPICE participates in:

  • Day Trips
  • Picnics
  • Dances
  • Senior center activities
  • Local seasonal activities
  • Member suggested activities
  • Volunteer opportunities with FISH
  • Foodbank and Animal Shelter agencies
  • Arts and Crafts
  • Movies
